How it plays
The game is viewed from a side-on perspective. Rastan advances through a sequence of stages, defeats enemies, avoids environmental hazards, and reaches an end-of-stage guardian or boss.
Players move, jump, and attack with the currently equipped weapon. Weapons and power-ups can be collected during a run, changing the way Rastan handles enemies. Progress depends on learning enemy patterns, choosing safe attack distances, and conserving opportunities through increasingly difficult sections.
Plan your run
Stay mobile rather than trading repeated blows with enemies. Attack from the edge of an enemy's range, then reposition before another foe can surround Rastan.
Learn the placement of traps and airborne enemies on each stage. Collect useful weapons when the route is safe, but avoid risky detours when a power-up is protected by severe hazards.
Against bosses, observe the attack cycle first and strike during recovery. Short, controlled attacks are generally safer than standing directly in front of a target.

Rastan Saga II is a side-scrolling action-platform game developed and published by Taito for arcade systems in 1988. It follows the barbarian warrior Rastan as he fights through a hostile fantasy world filled with monsters, traps, and powerful guardians. The game combines direct melee combat with platforming and weapon collection. Its combat is faster and more elaborate than a simple sword-and-jump formula, with several weapons and hazardous environments shaping each stage. Reception has generally recognized its colorful presentation and energetic action, while its difficulty and sometimes demanding hit detection remain notable characteristics of the arcade experience.
