How it plays
Warzard is a side-view, one-on-one 2D fighter. In the arcade campaign, the player selects Leo, Kenji, Tessa, or Mai-Ling and fights through a route of human and monster opponents before confronting powerful bosses.
The player moves, jumps, blocks, attacks, performs special techniques, and uses character-specific abilities. Victories award experience and may provide items or attribute improvements, while passwords can preserve campaign progress. Versus mode removes the campaign progression and focuses on direct matches between available fighters.
Plan your run
Learn the spacing and timing of the selected character before relying on special moves. Blocking, jumping over predictable attacks, and punishing recovery are especially important against the large bosses.
In the campaign, use earned experience and items to cover weaknesses rather than spending every resource immediately. Record passwords carefully, and practice recognizing boss patterns because several encounters are designed to overwhelm careless aggression.

Warzard, released as Red Earth in Japan, is a 1996 arcade fighting game developed and published by Capcom for the CPS-3 system. It combines one-on-one combat with role-playing progression in a fantasy world threatened by monsters and rival rulers. The main arcade campaign follows one of four playable heroes through a sequence of illustrated battles, while a separate versus mode supports competitive matches. Players can gain experience, improve attributes, and use items between fights. The game was noted for its large character sprites, detailed animation, unusual adventure structure, and demanding bosses. Despite its distinctive design, it remained less widely available than Capcom’s Street Fighter releases because it was confined to arcades and received few later ports.
