RoboCop
Alex Murphy, the cybernetic police officer controlled by the player.
How it plays
The main stages use a side view. RoboCop walks through urban areas, fights enemies with his weapon, avoids hazards, and advances through mission objectives. Some sequences place him in a vehicle or airborne craft, changing the pace and controls.
Progression follows a sequence of missions rather than an open world. Players must learn enemy patterns, conserve opportunities to attack, and adapt to each stage's different movement and aiming demands.
Plan your run
Study enemy placement before advancing, especially in narrow streets where several attacks can overlap. Use the side-scrolling stages to create space rather than rushing directly into groups.
Treat the vehicle and flight sections as separate challenges. Learn their movement patterns, avoid unnecessary collisions, and prioritize survival over attacking every target.
Meet the cast
Alex Murphy, the cybernetic police officer controlled by the player.
A scientist associated with RoboCop's development and the film's resistance against OCP.
Before you begin
Do not rush into enemies; positioning is often safer than continuous fire.
Expect the controls and objectives to change between stage types.
Practice vehicle sections separately because their handling differs from RoboCop's movement.
RoboCop 3 is a 1992 action game based on the film of the same name. It was developed by Digital Image Design and published by Ocean Software for the Sega Genesis. The game combines side-scrolling combat with vehicle and flight sequences, reflecting RoboCop's expanded equipment and missions in the film. Players control the armored police officer as he battles criminals, corporate forces, and hostile machines across several types of stages. Its unusual mixture of genres gave it more variety than a straightforward beat 'em up, although contemporary reception was mixed because the controls and some sections could feel awkward.
