Documented for this version
The supplied platform is Sega Genesis, but reliably documented button mappings are not included here.
How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. Players control RoboCop and advance through linear stages filled with armed enemies, robots, hazards, and bosses.
The main objective is to reach the end of each stage while surviving attacks and using available weapons effectively. Progression is based on completing successive levels; the campaign does not use a character-stat upgrade system or branching map. RoboCop can move, crouch, jump, and fire, with combat carrying most of the play experience.
Plan your run
Conserve stronger weapons for crowded encounters and bosses rather than spending them on isolated enemies.
Use crouching and careful positioning to reduce exposure to projectiles. Learn enemy placements during early attempts, because the linear stages and limited recovery opportunities make reckless forward movement costly.
Meet the cast
The armored police officer controlled by the player. He advances through hostile stages using firearms and his enhanced durability.
A machine soldier from the future who serves as a major opposing force in the crossover conflict.
Before you begin
Watch for enemies positioned above or below the main path.
Do not rush into new screens; several attacks are easiest to avoid after identifying their source.
RoboCop Versus The Terminator is a 1994 science-fiction run-and-gun platform shooter developed by Virgin Studios and published by Virgin Games for the Sega Genesis. It combines the RoboCop and Terminator licenses in a side-scrolling campaign in which RoboCop fights machines, criminals, and increasingly dangerous future forces. The game emphasizes direct shooting, frequent enemy encounters, and movement through industrial and urban environments rather than exploration or puzzle solving. Its presentation is violent and action-focused, reflecting contemporary console shooters. Reception was mixed: critics generally recognized its energetic combat and impressive licensed premise, while difficulty, repetition, and uneven design limited its appeal.
