Six selectable skaters
Players choose from six skaters, each with slightly different attributes and presentation.
How it plays
The player controls a skater in side-view stages built around forward movement and confrontations with opposing competitors. Progress requires staying on the course, avoiding hazards, and using attacks at the appropriate distance while maintaining momentum.
Stages are structured as self-contained events with an arcade-style objective: reach the end or complete the current contest while managing pressure from opponents. The game is designed for short runs, with failure sending the player back to continue from the available arcade point.
Plan your run
Keep moving instead of stopping in front of opponents, since momentum helps with both positioning and avoiding incoming attacks.
Learn the timing of enemy approaches and use the edges of the play area carefully. In crowded sections, prioritize survival and a clear path forward over unnecessary attacks.
Meet the cast
Players choose from six skaters, each with slightly different attributes and presentation.
Before you begin
Maintain forward momentum and avoid being surrounded.
Study hazard placement before committing to a risky attack.
Use short, controlled movements when several opponents approach at once.
Rollergames is a 1991 Konami arcade game based on the roller-derby television property of the same name. It combines sports presentation with side-scrolling action, placing the player in a stylized skating competition where physical contact and attacks are central to progress. The game is played from a side view and emphasizes movement, timing, and surviving encounters rather than detailed simulation. Konami’s colorful cabinet presentation and licensed theme give it a distinctive early-1990s identity, although it received less lasting recognition than the company’s major arcade action series. Its appeal today is mainly historical: it is an unusual attempt to turn televised roller derby into a compact arcade action experience.
