How it plays

How does Rolling Thunder 2 play?

The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. The objective is to move through each stage, defeat Geldra soldiers and other threats, collect weapons, and reach the end-of-stage boss. Players can shoot while standing, crouching, or jumping, and must use cover-like level geometry and enemy patterns to survive.

A single player can choose Albatross or Leila, while cooperative play allows two players to advance together. Stages are divided into sections with regular enemies, hazards, weapon pickups, and bosses. Progress is maintained by clearing one stage after another, with limited lives and continues making efficient movement important.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Rolling Thunder 2?

Treat enemy placement as a pattern to learn rather than rushing forward. Fire from a safe distance, crouch when appropriate, and avoid jumping into unseen threats.

  • Search for weapon pickups, but do not let a temporary weapon encourage reckless movement.
  • Preserve lives for bosses and difficult sections; memorizing spawn points is often more valuable than constant speed.
  • In two-player mode, avoid standing directly on top of one another so both agents retain room to dodge.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Learn enemy spawn points and hazardous jumps before attempting speedier runs.

  2. 2

Use crouching and controlled jumps to manage enemies positioned at different heights.

  3. 3

Cooperative play is useful for covering opposite sides of the screen, but careless movement can still cause both players to be hit.
