How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective and follows a linear sequence of scrolling stages. The objective is to defeat waves of enemies, survive environmental hazards, and defeat a boss at the end of each area.
Players move, jump, attack, pick up weapons, and use character-specific techniques. Enemies can be struck with regular attacks, throws, jumping attacks, and special moves. Progress is stage-based, with difficulty increasing through tougher enemy groups and more demanding boss patterns.
Plan your run
Learn the attack range and recovery time of the selected character before attempting long combos. Avoid standing directly between multiple enemies; move through groups, attack from one side, and use throws or knockdowns to control the crowd.
Save special techniques for dense enemy waves or bosses, and watch for weapon pickups that improve damage or reach. Bosses are safer when attacked after their committed moves rather than during their approach.

Sengoku 3 is a side-scrolling arcade beat 'em up developed by Noise Factory and published by SNK Playmore in 2001. It combines hand-to-hand combat with supernatural enemies, weapon attacks, and selectable warriors inspired by Japanese folklore and history. Players advance through dangerous stages while fighting large groups of enemies and powerful bosses. The game is designed for short arcade sessions, but its varied characters and responsive combat give it replay value. Reception has generally recognized its polished animation, energetic action, and substantial move system, although its difficulty and limited home availability kept it more of a specialist arcade favorite than a mainstream hit.
