How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. The main objective is to clear each stage, defeat its boss, and complete occasional mission-like tasks while surviving enemy fire and environmental hazards.
Players collect power-ups to improve shots, missiles, options, or other character-specific abilities. Stages contain comic set pieces and alternate routes or objectives, while multiple lives and limited continues define the arcade progression. A two-player mode is available on compatible arcade setups.
Plan your run
Build a dependable power-up configuration before taking unnecessary risks. A stronger shot and useful options usually matter more than briefly increasing speed.
Watch each stage’s visual gags for attack cues, and keep enough screen space to dodge rather than hugging enemies or scenery. Learn boss patterns through short practice sessions, and save continues for routes and bosses that consistently end a run.

Before you begin
Avoid collecting speed power-ups repeatedly; excessive speed can make precise dodging harder.
Stay near the center of the screen when a stage’s hazards are unfamiliar.
Use the character whose weapon behavior you can control consistently rather than choosing only by appearance.

Sexy Parodius is a 1996 arcade shoot-'em-up developed and published by Konami. It continues the Parodius series’ comic reinterpretation of Gradius-style space combat, mixing familiar Konami characters with extravagant stage themes, visual jokes, and deliberately absurd enemies. Players choose from a varied cast and guide a character through horizontally scrolling stages filled with dense bullet patterns, branching objectives, and boss encounters. Its play style combines traditional power-up management with character-specific weapons and movement traits. The game was well received in arcades for its humor, energetic presentation, and demanding action, although its escalating difficulty makes it especially suited to experienced arcade players.
