Jake Armitage
The amnesiac protagonist, badly injured in an opening attack and drawn into a conspiracy involving Seattle’s criminal and corporate underworld.
How it plays
The game uses a top-down, real-time perspective. Jake explores Seattle districts, enters buildings, talks with contacts, gathers clues, and accepts missions from fixers and other characters.
Combat uses ranged weapons, melee attacks, spells, and cyberware. Money and karma support equipment purchases and skill improvements, while contacts and discovered information open new routes through the campaign.
Plan your run
Keep enough money for ammunition, healing, and essential equipment instead of spending everything immediately. Talk to contacts repeatedly; new information and mission opportunities can appear after story progress.
Improve the abilities that match your preferred approach, and use cover, distance, and healing during difficult fights. Record clues and locations, since the game expects players to revisit places and connect information.

Shadowrun is an action role-playing game developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega for the Genesis in 1994. It presents a cyberpunk Seattle where magic, megacorporations, street gangs, and fantasy races exist alongside firearms and cybernetic implants. Players control Jake Armitage, an amnesiac runner trying to discover who attacked him and why. Exploration, real-time combat, dialogue, investigation, and character improvement are combined in a comparatively open campaign. The game was noted for its atmospheric setting, mature tone, and unusually flexible approach for a Genesis role-playing game, although its interface and combat could feel demanding to players unfamiliar with its systems.
