How it plays

How does Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad play?

Players guide a mercenary through vertically scrolling battlefields filled with soldiers, vehicles, turrets, bosses, and destructible objects. The objective is to advance through each stage, defeat enemy formations, rescue hostages when possible, and defeat the stage boss.

Movement is direct and fast. Players fire in eight directions, jump over hazards and attacks, collect weapon power-ups, and use limited bombs for emergency damage. Some stages include drivable vehicles or alternate routes. The game supports one or two players, and progression follows a sequence of arcade missions rather than a persistent character-development system.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad?

Keep moving rather than standing in open areas, because enemy projectiles and vehicles can quickly surround the player.

  • Save bombs for bosses, dense ambushes, or situations where escape routes are blocked.
  • Collect weapon upgrades promptly, but avoid risky detours when enemy fire is heavy.
  • Use jumps to cross hazards and evade horizontal attacks; do not rely on jumping to avoid every projectile.
  • In two-player mode, spread out enough to cover different directions without separating so far that one player cannot be supported.
