How it plays
The game is viewed from above as the mercenary moves through forests, villages, military bases, and other combat zones. The objective is to advance through each stage, destroy enemies and vehicles, rescue captives, and defeat large bosses.
Players can move in eight directions, fire in the direction of the character, jump over hazards, and use limited special attacks. Solo mode offers branching route choices, while Team mode uses a more fixed sequence and supports two-player cooperation. Weapons and power-ups found during stages improve firepower and survivability.
Plan your run
Keep moving instead of standing in open areas, since enemies attack from several directions and projectiles quickly fill the screen.

Shock Troopers is a 1997 arcade run-and-gun game developed by Saurus and published by SNK. Players control one of several mercenaries sent to rescue scientists kidnapped by the terrorist organization Bloody Scorpion. The game uses a top-down perspective, fast movement, and a large supply of automatic weapons, grenades, and special attacks. Its route system lets players choose between a branching Solo mode and a more linear route, while cooperative play supports two players. The game was well received for its energetic action, responsive controls, and colorful Neo Geo presentation, although its difficulty and heavy enemy fire can be demanding.
