Kashon
A human warrior who specializes in close-range sword attacks.
How it plays
The game uses a side-view, horizontal-scrolling perspective. Players guide one of three characters through a sequence of fantasy stages, defeating formations of airborne enemies, ground foes, and large bosses.
A character can fly and fire projectiles, then engage nearby enemies with melee attacks or magic. Movement between aerial and ground encounters is central to survival. Progression comes from clearing stages, defeating bosses, and collecting or managing resources used for stronger attacks and spells.
Plan your run
Learn the timing of each character's melee attack before relying on it against bosses. Use ranged fire to control distant enemies, then attack grounded or exposed targets when the screen is clear.
Conserve powerful magic for dense enemy formations and dangerous boss patterns. Staying mobile is usually safer than holding one position, especially when the game shifts between aerial shooting and ground combat.

Sol Divide: The Sword of Darkness is a 1997 arcade game developed and published by Psikyo. It combines horizontal-scrolling shoot 'em up action with close-range combat and role-playing elements in a dark fantasy setting. Players choose a warrior, elf, or wizard and pursue the sorcerer who threatens the world with the power of Sol Divide. The game alternates between aerial shooting and ground-based battles, letting players mix projectiles, sword attacks, and magic. Its short stage structure supports repeated arcade play, while character differences give each run a distinct rhythm. Reception has generally focused on its unusual hybrid design, dramatic fantasy presentation, and demanding difficulty, although the mix of systems is more experimental than Psikyo's conventional shooters.
