How it plays
The game uses a side-view, two-dimensional arena. A round is won by depleting the opponent's vitality before the timer expires; the first fighter to win the required number of rounds takes the match.
Players choose a fighter, defeat opponents in a ladder, and face increasingly difficult matches. Arcade mode supports one-player progression, while versus mode allows two players to fight. Each character combines punches, kicks, throws, unique special moves, and a distinct balance of speed, reach, and power.
Plan your run
Learn the range and recovery of each fighter's basic attacks before relying on special moves. Whiffing a heavy attack can leave you open to a counterattack.
Use blocking, crouching, and controlled movement to manage distance. Anti-air attacks are important against jumping opponents, while throws punish close-range blocking. In single-player mode, observe the computer's repeated patterns and respond with safe attacks rather than rushing.

Street Fighter II' Special Champion Edition is a one-on-one fighting game developed and published by Capcom for the Sega Genesis in 1993. It adapts the Champion Edition and Hyper Fighting revisions of the arcade classic, letting players choose from the original World Warriors and the four boss characters. Matches focus on spacing, normal attacks, special moves, and timing rather than exploration or equipment. The Genesis release was widely regarded as a strong home conversion, particularly because it offered the expanded roster and faster Hyper Fighting rules. Its competitive depth and responsive six-button controls helped make it one of the system's defining arcade ports.
