How it plays

How does Strider play?

Strider is viewed from the side. The player guides Hiryu through linear but vertically varied stages, defeating enemies, avoiding hazards, and reaching a stage boss or other major encounter. Hiryu's sword has short range but can be used rapidly, while jumping and wall movement help him cross gaps and climb through the environments.

The arcade game is divided into several missions with different visual themes and enemy patterns. Progress depends on learning routes, timing attacks, and managing limited lives and continues. Some encounters involve large bosses or moving machinery rather than ordinary platforming, keeping the pace varied between combat, traversal, and set-piece action.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Strider?

Keep moving and use Hiryu's sword before enemies can surround him. Short attacks are safer than standing still, especially against projectile users and enemies entering from screen edges.

Study boss patterns rather than trading hits. Use jumps and wall movement to reposition, attack during recovery windows, and conserve lives for later stages where hazards and enemy density increase.
