How it plays
The player views Strider from the side and guides him through large stages filled with platforms, ladders, hazards, soldiers, robots, and bosses. Strider can run, jump, slash with his Cypher, climb, crouch, and use acrobatic movement to reach different routes.
The objective is to advance through each area, defeat guardians, and ultimately confront Grandmaster Meio. Power-ups and rescued allies improve Strider's capabilities, while checkpoints and limited extra lives make careful movement and enemy recognition important.
Plan your run
Learn the range and timing of the Cypher rather than rushing every enemy. Short attacks followed by immediate movement are safer than standing toe-to-toe with armored opponents. Use ladders and platforms to attack from angles that enemies cannot easily cover.
Explore side paths for power-ups and allies, but do not ignore the main route when hazards are overwhelming. Against bosses, watch their attack cycles first, then strike during recovery windows. Preserving lives for later stages is usually more valuable than taking unnecessary risks for minor pickups.

Strider is a fast-paced action platformer developed and published by Capcom for the Sega Genesis in 1990. It stars Strider Hiryu, a cybernetic ninja sent to stop Grandmaster Meio and the oppressive forces controlling Earth. The game combines sword combat, acrobatic movement, vertical exploration, and large interconnected stages rather than a strictly linear platforming route. Its Genesis version adapts the arcade game with redesigned layouts, additional exploration, and a more console-oriented progression structure. Critics and players generally praised its speed, distinctive visual style, challenging enemies, and memorable protagonist, although the difficulty and occasional unevenness of the conversion were commonly noted.
