How it plays
Each stage presents a maze containing locked areas, keys, food items, and roaming ghosts. Pac-Man must collect the keys, open the corresponding gates, and eat every required food item to clear the round.
The joystick controls movement through the fixed maze. Power items temporarily let Pac-Man eat ghosts, while the Super Speed button provides rapid movement but is limited in use. Rounds become more demanding through tighter layouts, faster enemies, and more complicated routes.
Plan your run
Plan routes around the keys before collecting food. Opening a gate can change the safest path, so avoid trapping Pac-Man between a ghost and a dead end.
Save power items for situations where several ghosts converge, and use Super Speed to escape dangerous intersections or reach a key quickly. Learn the timing of each maze rather than relying on continuous joystick movement.

Before you begin
Collect keys early when doing so does not create an unsafe route.
Use power items defensively when escape paths are limited.
Do not waste Super Speed on long, safe corridors.
Super Pac-Man is a maze-action arcade game developed and published by Namco in 1982. It keeps the series’ recognizable yellow character and ghost pursuit, but changes the central objective: Pac-Man must collect keys to open gates and eat the food displayed in the maze. The game is played from a fixed overhead view, with short stages focused on routing, timing, and risk management. A Super Speed button lets Pac-Man move rapidly for a limited period. Contemporary reception was generally positive, with attention drawn to its expanded objectives and faster play, although it did not replace the original Pac-Man as the series’ defining arcade hit.
