How it plays

How does Super Puyo Puyo play?

Puyos fall in pairs from a top-down view of a vertical playfield. Move a pair horizontally, rotate it, and drop it into position. Connecting four or more Puyos of the same color clears them; unsupported pieces fall, potentially creating chains.

In one-player play, opponents are faced in sequence. In versus play, each player builds chains to send nuisance Ojama Puyos to the other side. The objective is to fill the opponent's field while keeping enough space to continue building chains.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Super Puyo Puyo?

Build chains instead of clearing isolated groups whenever the field allows it. Keep a central column open and place colors so that one clear causes the next group to fall into position.

In versus play, send nuisance Puyos with deliberate chains and watch the opponent's side before committing to a large setup. Clear incoming nuisance Puyos only when they threaten to block the chain you are building.
