How it plays
Players view a vertical well from the side and guide pairs of falling gems into position. Gems can be moved horizontally, dropped quickly, and rotated before they land. Matching gems touch to form larger clusters, while crash gems destroy connected gems of the same color when activated.
Destroyed gems generate counter gems on the opponent's field. The objective is to fill the opponent's well so that no legal placement remains, while using power gems and chain reactions to create stronger attacks. Arcade mode follows a sequence of character matches; versus mode supports direct two-player competition.
Plan your run
Plan around the next falling pair instead of reacting only to the current placement. Build same-color groups near crash gems, but avoid filling the well so completely that you lose the ability to rotate or redirect pieces.
Large power gems and chain reactions are usually more valuable than small immediate clears. Watch the opponent's counter-gem layout, keep a safe area for incoming pieces, and use deliberate counter-clears when a large attack is about to land.

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is a competitive action-puzzle game developed and published by Capcom for arcade systems in 1996. It uses characters from Capcom fighting games, but the combat is represented through falling gems rather than direct fighting. Players arrange colored gems, create large same-color groups, and shatter them to send counter gems onto the opponent's field. The game is designed for quick head-to-head matches, with a single-player arcade route and competitive two-player play. Its colorful presentation, humorous character animations, and accessible rules made it a popular arcade spin-off and a well-regarded puzzle game. The Japanese release is known as Super Puzzle Fighter II X.
