How it plays

How does Tetris 2 play?

The playfield is viewed from above in the familiar vertical-well perspective. Randomly falling two-color capsules must be moved and rotated before they land. The objective is to connect three matching-colored objects horizontally or vertically, causing them to disappear and opening space for further reactions.

Single-player stages contain colored blocks and viruses that must be eliminated. Clearing all viruses completes a stage, while the falling speed and arrangement become more demanding. In two-player mode, each player competes on a separate well; clears can affect the opponent by sending additional blocks.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Tetris 2?

Prioritize matches that remove viruses rather than making isolated clears. Build capsules carefully so that one explosion can trigger several connected matches.

Leave room for falling pieces, watch both halves of a capsule, and use chain reactions to reduce clutter. In competitive play, fast multi-line clears are useful because they can send nuisance blocks to the other player.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Look for color matches that can be completed after a capsule splits or falls into place.

  2. 2

Avoid sealing off the bottom of the well with mismatched capsules.

  3. 3

Use the pause function when planning a complicated chain.
