How it plays
Players select three fighters and one Striker, then fight through team-based rounds. A character remains active until defeated, and the next fighter enters with the remaining life and power conditions determined by the match.
The four attack buttons provide light and heavy punches and kicks. Players can use command attacks, special moves, super techniques, defensive maneuvers, and Striker calls. Winning rounds builds power stocks, while the order of the team affects available resources and match strategy.
Plan your run
Learn one reliable combo for each team member before expanding your move list. Preserve power stocks for confirmed super techniques or defensive guard cancels rather than spending them on unsafe attacks.
Use the Striker deliberately: call it after creating advantage, during pressure, or to extend a confirmed combo. Watch the opponent's meter and Striker timing, and choose team order so that your strongest fighter receives the resources needed for the final rounds.

The King of Fighters 2000 is a 2D team fighting game developed and published by SNK for arcade systems. It continues the KOF tournament storyline with K′ and his allies facing a new conspiracy connected to NESTS. Matches use teams of three active fighters, with a fourth character assigned as a Striker for assist attacks. The game emphasizes aggressive exchanges, rapid movement, cancel-based combos, and tactical use of assists. Its Active Striker system gives players more control over when support characters enter the match. Reception generally recognized its deep combat, large roster, and strong competitive potential, although some players considered its balance and presentation less polished than the series' best entries.
