How it plays

How does The King of Fighters '95 play?

Players select a three-fighter team and compete through a sequence of one-on-one rounds. The objective is to defeat every member of the opposing team before the time limit expires.

The game uses a standard arcade joystick and four attack buttons for punches and kicks. Players can jump, dash, block, throw, perform special moves, and execute powerful desperation attacks. The Power Gauge fills through combat and can be used for stronger attacks, while the team order determines the matchups and available health between rounds.

Single-player play leads through several teams before battles with Saisyu Kusanagi and Rugal Bernstein. Versus play supports direct competition between players.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play The King of Fighters '95?

Learn the range and recovery of each character's normal attacks before relying on special moves. Keep a balanced team order: a character who builds Power effectively can prepare the gauge for a stronger finisher later.

Use short hops, backdashes, throws, and guard pressure to control distance. Save the Power Gauge for a confirmed desperation attack or for surviving a difficult matchup rather than spending it randomly.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Use team order to place characters with strong neutral tools against difficult opponents.
