How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective across a sequence of stages set in locations from Springfield. The objective is to reach the end of each stage, defeat groups of enemies, and overcome a boss while rescuing Maggie.
Players move, jump, attack, collect temporary weapons and items, and can cooperate with other players. Each Simpson has different attack characteristics. Health is limited, and progression is stage-based rather than experience-based; completing a stage advances the story and restores the focus to the next encounter.
Plan your run
Stay close enough to support teammates, but avoid clustering around enemies that can knock down several players at once. Use environmental weapons and dropped food strategically, and save powerful attacks for bosses or dense groups.
Learn enemy approach patterns and keep moving between attacks. In multiplayer, coordinate rescues and item collection rather than spending all health independently; maintaining several active players is especially valuable during boss encounters.

The Simpsons is a side-scrolling arcade beat 'em up developed and published by Konami in 1991. Players control Homer, Marge, Bart, or Lisa Simpson after Mr. Burns and Smithers kidnap Maggie and steal her diamond. The game combines straightforward brawling with colorful stages, cartoon humor, and character-specific weapons. Its four-player cabinet support and accessible controls made it a popular cooperative arcade game. Reviews and player memories have generally praised its faithful presentation, lively animation, and entertaining multiplayer action, while noting that its short campaign and repetitive combat reflect the conventions of early-1990s beat 'em ups.
