How it plays
The game uses a mostly side-on perspective. Players guide Woody through stages, collect useful objects, avoid hazards, and reach the end of each area while dealing with enemies and environmental obstacles.
Stages are based on scenes from the film and include platforming sequences, vehicle or movement-based sections, and other challenges. Progression is linear: completing a stage unlocks the next part of the adventure, with the difficulty increasing through tighter jumps, faster hazards, and more demanding layouts.
Plan your run
Learn the timing of each stage before rushing forward. Many hazards are placed just beyond the edge of the screen, so advance carefully and watch enemy movement.
Use Woody’s pull-string ability when the level design clearly calls for it, and prioritize safe landings over collecting every object. In vehicle and chase sections, focus on the route and upcoming hazards rather than exploration.

Before you begin
Memorize recurring enemy and hazard patterns before attempting difficult jumps.
Explore cautiously for useful objects, but do not risk a life for optional pickups.
Treat chase and vehicle sections as timing challenges and keep attention on the next obstacle.
Toy Story is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Disney Interactive for the Sega Genesis in 1995. It adapts the first Pixar film into a sequence of action stages in which Woody navigates bedrooms, neighborhoods, and other locations while trying to reunite with Andy and survive threats from toys and people. The game combines platforming, item use, hazards, and occasional stage-specific challenges rather than following one single mechanical formula. Its colorful presentation and film-based scenarios were generally appreciated, while reviews also described the game as difficult and uneven in places. It is primarily a single-player experience with no separate multiplayer mode.
