How it plays
The game uses a top-down perspective. The primary objective changes by mission and may include destroying targets, rescuing hostages, transporting personnel, gathering intelligence, or protecting friendly units. Enemies include ground troops, armored vehicles, air defenses, and other hazards.
Players navigate broad maps, manage ammunition and fuel, select weapons, and return to designated landing or extraction areas. Missions form a campaign, with later operations increasing the number of objectives and the danger posed by enemy defenses.
Plan your run
Read the mission objectives before engaging targets. Some missions require rescue or reconnaissance work, so destroying everything in sight can waste ammunition and cause failures.
Use the map to plan safe routes, conserve powerful weapons for armored targets, and land or resupply whenever the mission permits. Avoid lingering near concentrated air defenses.
Before you begin
Prioritize the current objective over optional enemy targets.
Keep track of fuel, ammunition, and damaged equipment before entering heavily defended areas.
Use the map frequently to avoid wandering away from extraction points.
Urban Strike is a 1994 action game developed by Foley Hi-Tech and published by Electronic Arts for the Sega Genesis. It is the third entry in the Strike series and shifts the setting toward densely populated urban environments. The player pilots a futuristic combat helicopter while responding to a terrorist threat and supporting allied operations. Missions combine shooting with reconnaissance, rescues, demolitions, and movement across large overhead maps. The game was noted for its strategic mission structure and varied objectives rather than purely linear arcade action. Its technical presentation and detailed environments were generally well regarded, although the controls and mission complexity could feel demanding for players expecting a simpler shooter.
