How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective. Each stage requires Vectorman to move from left to right, defeat enemies, avoid traps, collect items, and reach the exit or boss encounter.
Vectorman can run, jump, fire, and use temporary weapon upgrades. Levels contain platforms, moving hazards, destructible objects, environmental obstacles, and hidden collectibles. Progression follows a fixed sequence of stages, with boss battles appearing at key points.
Plan your run
Learn enemy patterns before rushing forward, especially in stages with moving platforms or concealed hazards. Keep a weapon upgrade when possible, but prioritize safe positioning over firing speed.
Explore vertical routes and suspicious walls for collectibles, and use jumps conservatively near pits. Bosses are generally easier once their movement cycles and safe attack windows are observed.
Meet the cast

The authoritarian robotic ruler whose actions create the central conflict.
Before you begin
Use short, controlled jumps around pits and moving obstacles.
Search side paths for power-ups and collectibles.
Do not rush unfamiliar enemy formations.
Vectorman is a 1995 side-scrolling action platformer developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega for the Genesis. The game follows Vectorman, an environmental robot returning to Earth after humans leave behind a polluted world and an authoritarian machine ruler. Players guide him through mechanical and natural environments while shooting enemies, collecting power-ups, and navigating hazards. Its smooth animation, detailed pre-rendered visuals, and fast controls were widely praised at release. The game is known as one of the Genesis era’s technically ambitious platformers, although its difficulty and occasionally demanding level layouts can make later stages challenging.
