How it plays
Players move through horizontally scrolling stages, defeating groups of enemies before advancing to the next area. Each character has a different balance of speed, power, reach, and attack range.
The standard arcade controls use an eight-way joystick and attack and jump buttons. Players can combine movement, normal attacks, jump attacks, throws, and environmental weapons. Progression is stage-based, with tougher enemy formations and boss encounters leading to the final confrontation.
Plan your run
Stay mobile and avoid allowing enemies to surround the character. Prioritize enemies carrying weapons or projectiles, then use throws and corner pressure to control groups.
In two-player games, attack from opposite sides and avoid striking the other player during crowded encounters. Save any useful weapon for enemy waves or bosses, where repeated direct attacks can be risky.

Violent Storm is a side-scrolling arcade beat 'em up developed and published by Konami in 1993. Set in a stylized urban future, it follows three fighters battling a violent criminal organization and rescuing a kidnapped girl. The game supports up to two players and combines straightforward brawling with throws, jumping attacks, weapons, and branching-feeling stage encounters. Its colorful comic-book presentation and exaggerated enemies give it a lighter tone than some of Konami's darker beat 'em ups. Critics and arcade players generally recognized its polished animation, responsive combat, and strong cooperative play, although it arrived late in the genre's arcade heyday and never became as widely known as Konami's earlier classics.
