How it plays

How does Virtua Fighter play?

Matches are viewed from a dynamic third-person 3D perspective. The objective is to defeat an opponent within the time limit by reducing their health or knocking them out of the ring.

Players move with an eight-way joystick and use Punch, Kick, and Guard buttons. Attacks can be combined with directional inputs, while throws and defensive techniques depend on timing and proximity. The single-player arcade route consists of successive character battles followed by a final encounter with Dural.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Virtua Fighter?

Learn the timing of Guard before relying on attacks. Short directional attacks are safer than repeatedly using the same long sequence.

Stay aware of the ring edge: a throw or knockback can win a round immediately. Practice one reliable throw and one punish for each fighter, then adjust spacing instead of attacking continuously.
