How it plays
Matches use a side-view, one-on-one format. The player chooses a fighter, defeats an opponent in rounds, and advances through an arcade ladder. Victory generally requires reducing the opponent's life gauge before the time limit expires.
The game includes standard fighting matches and Death Match battles. Death Match stages contain hazards that can damage or reposition fighters, so movement and stage awareness are important. Basic attacks, jumps, crouches, throws, blocking, and character-specific special techniques form the core progression.
Plan your run
Learn the reach and recovery of the normal attacks before relying on special moves. Keep a useful distance, punish missed attacks, and use throws when an opponent blocks too often.
In Death Match mode, treat stage hazards as part of the matchup. Avoid being cornered near damaging objects, and favor attacks that push the opponent into danger when the opportunity is safe.

World Heroes is a 1992 arcade fighting game developed by ADK and published by SNK. Its roster draws loosely from famous historical figures, reimagining them as colorful martial artists with distinct fighting styles. Players select one warrior and battle through a sequence of one-on-one matches, with a separate Death Match mode adding hazardous arenas and unusual stage rules. The game emphasizes straightforward controls, special moves, throws, and careful spacing rather than elaborate combos. It was well received in arcades for its accessible play and distinctive character concept, and it established the World Heroes series on Neo Geo hardware.
