How it plays

How does Xevious play?

The screen scrolls continuously from bottom to top while the Solvalou moves freely across the playfield. Players must destroy airborne enemies with the firing weapon and mark ground targets before dropping bombs on them.

The route is divided into areas with changing terrain, formations, bases, and special objects. Progress depends on surviving enemy fire, managing movement around obstacles, and learning when to attack targets on either layer. The game continues through repeating area sequences after the initial course.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Xevious?

Keep moving in small, controlled patterns instead of making long predictable sweeps. Use the aerial shot continuously, but reserve attention for ground targets that can restrict safe movement.

Watch the targeting marker before releasing a bomb, and attack ground installations early when enemy fire is sparse. Learn recurring formations and use the screen edges carefully; staying near an edge can reduce exposure, but it also limits escape routes.
