How it plays
The game presents an on-rails first-person view. Yoshi follows a fixed route while the player aims the Super Scope at enemies, projectiles, obstacles, switches, and bosses. Mario can fire at targets and use Yoshi's movement to advance through each course.
Jewelry Land is divided into stages connected by a map. Completing routes unlocks further areas, while boss encounters provide major tests and recover stolen jewels. The Super Scope's limited ammunition and the need to hit targets quickly make accuracy and timing more important than exploration.
Plan your run
Aim slightly ahead of moving enemies and watch for projectiles before they reach Mario. Preserve attention for targets that can damage Yoshi or interrupt the route.
Learn each boss's attack pattern, prioritize dangerous shots, and use short, controlled firing rather than wasting ammunition on harmless background objects. Replaying cleared stages helps improve accuracy and score.

Yoshi's Safari is a 1993 Super Nintendo light-gun rail shooter developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo. The player controls Mario from a first-person viewpoint while Yoshi carries him through Jewelry Land, where Bowser and the Koopalings have stolen twelve valuable jewels. Designed for the Super Scope, the game combines rapid aiming with a colorful, side-scrolling route structure. Players shoot enemies, defeat bosses, and help restore the kingdom rather than freely exploring levels. Its unusual hardware requirement made it less widely played than standard Mario adventures, but contemporary and later commentary has often recognized its responsive shooting, bright presentation, and distinctive place in Nintendo's 16-bit library.
