Zoop
The player-controlled central avatar that represents the core you must defend.
How it plays
The game is viewed from above, with the player’s piece positioned in the middle of a field surrounded by incoming colored pieces. The main objective is to eliminate pieces that match the active color before they reach the center.
Play proceeds through successive stages with increasing speed and pressure. Players must watch several approach lanes, react quickly, and use the available matching actions efficiently. Mistakes allow pieces to accumulate and can end the game when the central area is overrun.
Plan your run
Prioritize the lane closest to the center rather than chasing every new piece. Scan the surrounding lanes continuously so that an approaching threat does not remain unnoticed.
Keep your input deliberate when several matching pieces appear together. Early, safe clears preserve room to react as the pace increases; waiting too long usually creates a chain of unavoidable threats.

Zoop is a fast-paced action-puzzle game developed by Hookstone and published by Viacom New Media for the Sega Genesis in 1995. The player controls a colored piece at the center of a square playfield while matching pieces advance from the surrounding edges. The objective is to remove incoming pieces before they reach the center and overwhelm the board. Its play style combines color matching, rapid reactions, and escalating pressure rather than conventional falling-block mechanics. Multiple difficulty levels and increasingly demanding stages give the game a brisk arcade rhythm. Reception was mixed: critics recognized its distinctive presentation and immediate challenge, but its rules and repetitive structure divided players.
