Asterix and the Great Rescue
Sega GenesisPlatformer
How it plays
The game presents side-view one-on-one fights. Players choose a fighter, defeat opponents through a series of matches, and eventually face Motaro and Shao Kahn. Standard attacks, jumping, crouching, blocking, throws, special moves, and finishing moves form the core combat system.
Arcade mode provides the main progression, while Versus mode supports matches between two players. Mortal Kombat 3 adds the Run mechanic, allowing short bursts of forward movement, and Kombos that link attacks into damaging sequences. Each fighter has distinct special moves and fatalities.
Plan your run
Learn the spacing and recovery of the chosen fighter before relying on long Kombos. Use blocking to absorb predictable special moves, then punish the opponent during recovery.
Save the Run meter for closing distance or extending pressure. Against Motaro and Shao Kahn, avoid reckless jumps, attack after their failed moves, and prioritize survival over elaborate finishing sequences.
Before you begin
Practice special-move inputs in Versus mode before attempting the arcade ladder.
Use blocking frequently against opponents with strong projectile attacks.
Kombos are most reliable when started with attacks that recover quickly.
Mortal Kombat 3 is a competitive fighting game developed by Avalanche Software and published by Acclaim Entertainment for the Sega Genesis in 1995. It follows Earthrealm's defenders as Shao Kahn begins an invasion after merging Earthrealm with Outworld. Matches use one-on-one combat, special moves, finishing techniques, and a roster of returning and new fighters. The Genesis version adapts the arcade game's structure and characters while reducing visual and audio detail to fit the hardware. Critics generally regarded it as a capable home conversion, though its presentation and some content were less complete than the arcade original.
