How it plays
Real Bout Fatal Fury is a one-on-one fighter viewed from a side perspective. Each match is fought across arenas with two combat planes, allowing characters to shift between the foreground and background to evade attacks or create openings.
Players use punches, kicks, throws, special moves, and desperation techniques to deplete an opponent's life bar. Matches are organized as a sequence of battles, with the final route leading to Geese Howard. Ring edges and stage hazards can influence positioning, and the Power Gauge enables stronger attacks when sufficiently charged.
Plan your run
Learn when to switch planes, since a well-timed lane change can avoid linear attacks and create a punish opportunity.
Save the Power Gauge for confirmed special or desperation attacks rather than spending it on every opening. Watch the arena boundary as well: pressure near a ring edge can limit escape options, but careless attacks may expose you to a ring-out.

Do not ignore the stage boundary; positioning can decide a close round.
Real Bout Fatal Fury is a 2D fighting game developed and published by SNK for arcade systems in 1995. It continues the Fatal Fury series with a tournament of martial artists, street fighters, and recurring rivals battling through South Town. The game keeps the series' lane-based movement while making combat faster and more aggressive than earlier entries. Its most notable additions include ring-out hazards, a revised Power Gauge, and a large roster drawn from the previous games. Players can choose familiar heroes such as Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, and Mai Shiranui, while facing Geese Howard as the central threat. The arcade release was well received for its responsive controls, colorful presentation, and energetic matches.
