How does Tetris play?
The player views a vertical well from the side, with tetrominoes descending from the top. Pieces can be moved horizontally, rotated, and dropped into position. Completing a full horizontal line clears it and awards points, while incomplete stacks remain in the well.
The objective is to survive as long as possible and achieve a high score. Play proceeds continuously rather than through a story campaign; the principal progression is an increase in falling speed and difficulty. The session ends when blocks reach the top of the well and leave no room for a new piece.
