How it plays
The game is viewed from the side. Players guide Rockman or Forte through linear platforming stages, avoiding hazards, defeating enemies, and reaching a boss encounter. Regular attacks, jumping, ladders, and careful positioning are central to progression.
Completed stages grant access to additional areas and boss weapons. Rockman and Forte do not play identically, so movement and shooting tactics differ between them. The WonderSwan version uses the handheld’s directional buttons and face buttons for movement, jumping, shooting, and pausing.
Plan your run
Learn the layout of each stage before rushing forward. Small enemies and platform hazards often punish continuous movement more than slow, deliberate progress.
Use each acquired boss weapon where it is most effective, and switch between Rockman and Forte when their different attack patterns make a section easier. Conserve health and weapon energy before boss encounters.
Meet the cast

Before you begin
Try both playable characters because their movement and firing styles are different.
Search stages carefully for safe routes instead of relying only on speed.
Save weapon energy for bosses and difficult enemy groups.
Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Capcom for the Bandai WonderSwan. It is a portable spin-off in which Rockman and Forte investigate a mysterious threat connected to the future. The game uses the series’ familiar run-and-gun structure, but presents original stages, bosses, and story material rather than directly adapting a numbered console entry. Players choose between the two heroes, each with different movement and attack characteristics, then fight through compact stages and collect boss weapons. Its release was notable for bringing a new Rockman adventure to Bandai’s monochrome handheld, although it remained a Japan-exclusive title and is less widely known than the mainline games.
