Sega 32X

The Sega 32X is a peripheral add-on for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive family, released by Sega in the mid-1990s as a bridge to 32-bit gaming. It plugged into the cartridge slot and added its own dual Hitachi SH-2 processors and video hardware, aiming to deliver smoother scaling, more colors, and polygon-based 3D effects than the base console alone.

Its library was relatively small and heavily weighted toward arcade-style action, racing, shooters, and ports, with only a limited number of exclusives. Although technically ambitious, the 32X was commercially overshadowed by Sega's Saturn and by the rapid shift to full 32-bit systems, leaving it a short-lived but notable part of Sega hardware history.
